Viton® is a fluorinated hydrocarbon elastomer. Due to its high cost, Viton® is usually used in very critical sealing applications requiring excellent stability of physical properties in very severe operating conditions. This product has an outstanding resistance to a wide variety of oils, fuel, acids and solvents at high temperatures.

Its resistance to temperature is comparable to that of silicone, and its resistance to weather is superior to that of neoprene. Viton
® offers very good impermeability to gases and steam, and very good ozone and sunlight resistance. Moreover, fluorinated hydrocarbon elastomers show broader compatibility with a number of chemicals than any other elastomer.

Viton
® has shown its outstanding capacity in applications where the presence of chemicals, hydrocarbon fluids and high temperatures are combined. Its resistance to aircraft engine lubricants constitutes an excellent example of an application where the material is used to enhance product life while maintaining high security standards.

This type of elastomer will be severely attacked by a number of ester, ether and acetate-based solvents.

Viton
® is available in 70 Shore A commercial grade, as well as premium grade.
